
Bradbury's Bee Balm (Monarda bradburiana)
Midwest Native One of the few species we grow from outside of the Northeast range. This bee balm is a short, clump-forming perennial loved by pollinators. It blooms earlier than other bee balms. Fuzzy lavender/green, mint-scented foliage is adorned with delightful lavender flowers. A favorite garden plant.
Native range: Eastern North America, primarily in the southeastern and south-central United States
Size: 2 feet tall, space 12-18 inches apart
Growing conditions: Sun to partial shade, medium to dry soil
Bloom period: May through June
Wildlife value: Attracts butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, and other pollinators; nectar source for long-tongued bees and butterflies; larval host for certain moth species
Garden benefits: Mint aroma makes it deer resistant, very attractive to pollinators including hummingbirds, cut flower
