Native range: Eastern and central North America, widely distributed across most of the United States and southern Canada

Growing conditions: Full to partial sun, moist to dry soil

Wildlife value: Attracts butterflies, bees, moths, and other pollinators; larval host for various sphinx moths; seeds eaten by birds including goldfinches; flowers open in evening attracting night-flying pollinators
